This anonymous work of history covers the time period from the end of the third century to the early sixth century, and it describes the persecution suffered by Christians in Edessa, Amid and throughout Mesopotamia, mostly at the hands of their Persian overlords. The work is ascribed to a teacher at the school of Edessa, but William Wright published an English translation of the same work and attributed it to Joshua the Stylite. This work was first published in 1959, but this volume is the second edition, published in 1984. The volume includes a preface by Philoxenos Yeshu Dolabani, former Metropolitan of Mardin.
