First published in 1926, Lt. Hart from the British Mandate of Iraq provides a guide and phrasebook to the East Syriac of the native populace, and spoken by the Iraq Levies military forces. This volume contains a pronunciation guide, vocabulary, grammar, syntax, useful phrases (conversational, medical, and military) and a Syriac transcription of military vocabulary intended to facilitate communication between British and Syriac-speaking personnel. It contains transcriptions of English and Syriac into the other language, and is intended for use by both sides.
