François Nau (1864-1931), who edited and translated a vast number of Syriac texts, published a collection of various Maronite works from London and Paris manuscripts. The texts printed here, which were handwritten, contain the first three works of John Maron: an exposition of the faith, a work against the Jacobites, and a work against the Nestorians; all of which were translated into French. Also included (in Syriac only), are parts of a Maronite Chronicle, some controversial texts (on the Trishagion, John the Stylite), the History of Daniel of Mardin (14th cent.), and, finally, a work touching on events in Beirut in the 5th cent. This collection of Syriac texts, and the French translation of the theological and polemical works from John Maron, will be of interest to every student and scholar of eastern Christianity, especially to those interested in Maronite history and literature.
