Peter the Iberian was a very important but little known figure of the fifth-century and one of the few members of the ancient Georgian tradition of Christianity to make a broad impact on Christianity in other traditions. Peter’s influence on other traditions is demonstrated by the circulation of his biography, written soon after the end of his life in Greek, in multiple translations. In the present volume, Richard Raabe presents an edited version of the Syriac text of the biography of Peter the Iberian, based on an eighth century manuscript. Raabe also includes an introduction to the text, a German translation, and extensive notes.
