Starting with its beginning at the end of the third century, Mar Sawerious Ephram Barsom expounds on the establishment of the Theological School of Antioch amidst the city’s golden age as the Eastern capital of the Byzantine Empire. He follows the School from its formation by two scholars Lucianus and Dorotheous, to its golden age in the fourth century, until its decline in the fifth century. All the while, he explains its methods and teachings as well as gives a list of its most prominent teachers and pupils.
