From the famous very early British Museum (now Library) manuscript, Add. 12150, dated to 411, Lagarde has produced the text of the Syriac version of Titus of Bostra’s (died 371) Against the Manichaeans, a work specifically singled out by Jerome in his On Illustrious Men. The work, in four books, is incomplete in Greek, and this very early Syriac translation, probably made during Titus’s lifetime, is of obvious importance for the text of the work. This volume will be of great interest to readers who study Greek-Syriac translations and those interested in fourth/fifth century Christian literature more generally.
